I know, it has been a long... very long time since I last blogged! I must apologize if I disappointed the seven followers that may or may not read my blog! So if you are reading I am sorry, I was far to busy coloring Easter eggs, celebrating Christs Resurrection and Carters 2nd birthday. To busy talking to speech therapists and yelling loudly about insurance companies, praying for my sick grandmother and spring cleaning to blog. I am still doing some of those things, but I found time to blog again. I will try not to let life get in the way :)
Without further a-do,
I have a friend, Kelly she is wonderful and gorgeous and has a wonderful beautiful daughter Grace. I do not think she reads here so I am safe to talk about her. But if she does read here without me knowing, I plan on saying nothing but wonderful things! Because in my opinion there is nothing to say but wonderfulness. This wonderful friend Kelly lives in the heart of suburbia. She has a nice and neat house on a cal de sac with a pool and swing set and drive way full of power wheels, and baby strollers. Carter and I were invited over today for a play date with Kelly and Grace and her other friend, and her daughter who for the record are just as beautiful and wonderful as Kelly and Grace.
I think when Kelly quickly typed me a face book message yesterday evening inviting me over she thought we were getting together for just another playdate. I have been to Kelly's house numerous times before. Pulled in the drive littered with toys and admired the tree lined streets and nicely landscaped homes. So why was today so different? Different enough that it should have its own three paragraph spot on my seven follower blog. Well today it was 80 degrees, and it was bright and sunny, the air smelled like fresh cut grass and the housing plan was a buzz with mower sounds and people chatting. The moms sat on the back patio and sipped coffee and ate cinnamon rolls while the kids fought over baby strollers and slide down slides and skinned their knees. Three moms pulled three children around the cal de sac in a wagon and gave them horsey rides on the horse with wheels. We carried and comforted our kids through the housing plan visiting garage sales and neighbors, the community held sounds of dogs wrestling and people haggling another dollar down on their sale finds. Old ladies stopped their morning walk to shake hands and introduce themselves to me, the stranger in suburbia. They commented on our kids, giggled at their snack induced sticky faces and remembered how they felt when they were moms of young-ins. We stopped to chat with other moms who's children were already at play and our children joined in. We moms stood in the sun at the end of the driveway and spoke about kids clothes, consignment sales, strollers and newborns. Todays playdate was different today I got to experience springtime in suburbia.
See we live in the country...... we always have....

(yes this is our backyard)
You know with a field as a backyard and also our neighbor to the left, the neighbor to the right is a crick! Or a creek but you know I am from western PA so crick it is. We live on a rode, not a street, no neighbors stop to have a chat at the end our our gravel drive. There is no cal de sac or yard sales. We are not desolate of course one of the counties main highways is a one minute drive away and we are a short distance from a pool, a gas station and grocery store. But our surroundings are country! Today as I pushed my son for the first time on a big kids swing, and shook hands with ladies much older than I... on the streets of my dear friends neighborhood I longed for suburbia. I wanted suburbian spring. I thought that a day like I had today only existed in prime time sitcoms and in the imagination of well meaning braggers. See our morning was wonderful and we soaked in the sun, good company, and coffee well into early afternoon when Carters face became long and his thumb creeped into his mouth and I knew that it was time to leave suburbia. I had to leave suburbia for..... naptime. I came home to my country house, where I hear the birds chirp and the tractors go in an out of the long driveway across the road. I know that if I had suburbia everyday it would not be special but become ordinary, and normal, ordinary and normal like my country surroundings. But I do love it and I am so glad I have a friend like Kelly who allows me to borrow her suburban neighborhood every now and again!
